Angelo Casciello

Biography Angelo Casciello was born in Scafati (Salerno) on September 9, 1957. Sculptor, painter, environmental operator, professor at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. His debut in the art world dates back to 1977. In 1979 he held a solo show at the Galleria Lucio Amelio in Naples as part of the New Creation of Southern Italy.

He imposed himself on the national and international scene in 1986 participating to the XI Quadrennial in Rome and the XLII Venice Biennale, where he will still be present in the years 2006 and 2011. In 1987 participates in the exhibition of Italian Art Trends in the 90s, Galleria Modern art, Zagreb, and at the XXVII Biennial of Gravure, Ljubliana; In 1992 he took part in the Barcelona Biennale.

In the years 1990, 1991, 1992 he was mentioned as one of the best artists of the year, from the magazine "Arte", Ed. Mondadori, Milan. In 1993 he won the XXXIII Suzzara Award, in 1998 he took part in the IX International Sculpture Biennial of the City of Carrara. In 1999 he is reported as one of the Magnificent 5 of 1998, by Il Giornale dell'Arte, Ed. U. Allemandi, Turin, and as one of the best artists of the last 40 years, by Flash Art magazine, G. Politi Editore, Milan.

In 2001 he won the European Competition, for the realization of two large-reliefs to be placed in the Arengario of the New Palace of Justice in Naples. In 2002 he won the 1st Prize at the III Piedmont Region International Sculpture Prize in Turin, in the same year he received the Scipione Prize in Macerata.

In 2003 the Campania Region and the Municipality of Naples organized the exhibition "Casciello. Percorsi 1973/2013 ", held at Castel Dell'Ovo in Naples. In 2005 he took part in the exhibition "The Italian Sculpture of the Twentieth Century", A. Pomodoro Foundation, Milan. In 2007 he was invited by C.E.I., to illustrate some tables of the New Lectionary. On 9 September 2009 he was nominated by Pope Benedict XVI, Academician of the Pantheon.

In 2010 he won the first prize at the 61st Michetti Prize. In 2013 Participates in the Racconigi International Sculpture Biennial. In 2016 Participates in the XXXVI Sculpture Biennial in Gubbio. Between 2017 and 2018 for 12 months he installed large environmental sculptures in the Pompeii Archaeological Park, on the occasion of the exhibition "Casciello. Pompei".

His works have been exhibited in exhibitions held in Belgium, Croatia, China, France, Germany, Italy, Kenya, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.S.A .
