Ludovica Bastianini

Her work combines the language of photography with mixed techniques such as painting, collage and illustration. The result is a delicate and evocative work; the direct manipulation of images aims at understanding how this can change our perception of reality. Ludovica Bastianini explores contemporary social issues and is very close to issues concerning women and children. Since 2017 she has been recommended as a young talent of European photography in numerous magazines and websites, including Grazia France, Le Monde, SRF, Numero, Donna Moderna, L’Espresso. She received attention from the French and German television channel Arte Journal, which interviewed her on the occasion of the Circulations Festival in Paris. (from Il Fotografo, 2018) .

“The artistic practice leads me to express intuitions, unspoken words, personal experiences. In the need to isolate thoughts, producing images has become the way to "see" my voice, listen to it protected from external interferences. I have been drawing for as long as I can remember while photography came in adulthood: to me it’s like working on a plausible memory, where I can act to modify or understand things that are hard for me. Cuts, deletions, element removals, colors and manipulations are part of my research. I work on social and global issues when I can somehow intertwine them with my personal experiences. Art of posing but above all art of removing, thanks to which I have the sensation of cleaning my soul and mind from the noisy chimerics of consumer society.”
