Danilo Ambrosino

Born in Naples in 1964 where he lives and works, after 25 years of business management he decided to devote himself completely to painting. In 2009 he transformed his house into a home gallery and founded, with the architect Anna Fresa, D.A.F.Na, a cultural association with the aim of promoting artists. He has exhibited in Italy and France and his works have been acquired by collectors in Italy and abroad.

"There is fluid organicity that pervades the work of Danilo Ambrosino and which is accentuated in the contrast of the emergence of the forms with an absolute black background. The figures that appear seem to be looking for a liberation that is difficult, possible, but not particularly sought after or necessary. Ambrosino brings painting to a plane that is narrative on the one hand, while on the other it concentrates its most distinctive characteristics in the fluens form. The corporeality is stirred in a form between the liquid and the gaseous, the human figure remains compressed by the black background against which it shines with luminous uncertainty, but also with dynamic energy. And if black is the color of burnt, of combustion, the contrast with the fluidity of the glazes that trace almost plastic silhouettes is very marked, albeit attenuated by the monochromatism. What comes out is literally the sensation of the emergence of forms from the dark, like apparitions of mental substances that are stirred up on a night screen. The artist's technique, his direct physical participation in the work, give further elements to give this painting the sense of an extreme gesture that tries to accompany the painting in its construction of an essential, dense world, within which they develop organic forms.
