Description

Restoring the movement of reality in the steadiness of the image: this is the tension that triggers my artistic practice, based on the interweaving of drawing, painting and sculpture.

In the era of augmented reality, we move our bodies between visions, the eye perceives its own lacking essence and feels ashamed in front of the machine. And I participate, with my body and with my gaze, in this mutation with the desire to bring it back to its essence: the image.
This constant contrast between the human body and the machine is amplified in the space where I work by its own sedimented history. Located on the ground floor of a building on the edge of the city of Naples, my studio was in fact born from the leftovers of a former gym. Surrounded, often unwillingly, by tools, dumbbells and rubber mats, I have tried several times to set limits within my drawing practice, following the example of Matthew Barney in "Drawing restraint". Rather than focusing on the boundary of the body, I constantly try to question the boundary of visual perception.

Exploring this transformation is a political act that doesn’t indulge the oscillation, but focusses on the persistence, the unchanged component in the flow of life. In my work I aim to reconstruct the process according to which the primordial substance, the ineluctable, emerges from the overlap of forms, spaces and materials - even if insubstantial. The act of unveiling the essential takes shape from the trace that my body, my tools my thoughts leave and receive in the here and now of artistic creation.
